Leroy is a Brown/Black, Pit Mix weighing around 71 pounds. A woman in Wilson, NC came home to find Leroy in her backyard playing with her little dog. Evidently he jumped the fence and decided to stay. She contacted the shelter to see if someone was looking for him but no one ever did.
Flights
Pilot.dog dog rescue mission flight stories.
Batman, Ferris, Cameron, and Sloane
We were contacted by Marisa at the non-profit Mr. Bones & Company out of NYC for us to bring four dogs to them.
Benny and June Go North
This rescue flight was in memory of our dog, Dude Rhode 3/2/02 – 2/23/16
We were looking for a flight to for February 23rd. It was the anniversary of our loosing our beloved dog Dude. Our boy, who we named the plane after and who you hear barking at the beginning of each of our videos, was special. We didn’t want to sit around and be sad all day, we wanted a way to honor Dude in a way that was befitting such a beautiful, funny, loving and friendly family member.
Puppies, Dutchess, Festus and Poppy
We teamed up again with Mike Malaro with Flying Mutts Rescue and transported 11 dogs this past weekend from rescues in North and South Carolina to rescues in Rhode Island.
Charlotte’s Rescue Flight
Charlotte was an awesome dog to fly along with the super-duper flight volunteer Steve Murray.
Rosetta & Mikey
Rosetta is a 1 year Pit mix and Mikey a lab/hound mix who came from the Vance County, Henderson, NC shelter where Ruin Creek Animal Protection Society managed to find a rescue for them at Tara’s House.
The Rescue Story of Gus
The first time I saw Gus on April 3, 2016 he was in bad shape and at foster home that didn’t want him and was treating him pretty badly. I was told that he was locked outside in a crate in a shed for most of the time the foster had him. A Rescue Coordinator called me and asked if I would drive and pick up Gus and take him to a stop along the I-95 Corridor where another volunteer would pick him up and take him to another foster in another state. The current foster wouldn’t even drive him 30 minutes to meet his ride to another foster.
Punkin, Four Puppies & Joy
We were contacted by Mike Marlo of FlyingMutts.org to fly a mom and four puppies to Georgetown, Delaware where we would meet him and he would fly the pups the rest of the way up to New England. So off went the emails back and forth to set up this wonderful flight to save 5 more dogs.
Puppy Flight to Delaware – Lily, Josie, Dan, and Matte
Mike Marlo from Flying Mutts Rescue contacted Steve about flying four puppies up to the rescue, Bandits Place in Connecticut. There were two sets of two puppies, four pups in total, coming out of Halifax County SPCA near South Boston, Virginia.
